A TOTAL of eight West Fife neighbourhoods were in the lowest category for coronavirus case numbers this week.

The weekly statistics from Public Health Scotland show the COVID-19 hotspots in the Kingdom between July 31 and August 6.

In this time, there were 397 cases which resulted in a seven day positive rate of 106.1 cases per 100,000 population.

There was one neighbourhood, Dunfermline Touch and Woodmill, in the 200-399 cases per 100,000 population category after six cases were recorded.

Places in the 100-199 cases per 100,000 population rating were Dunfermline Masterton (six cases), Dunfermline Milesmark and Wellwood (6), Dunfermline Abbeyview North (6), Oakley, Comrie and Blairhall (6), Kelty West (4), Rosyth Central (5), Dunfermline Abbeyview South (4), Dalgety Bay Central (6), Dunfermline Bellyeoman and Townhill (7), Dunfermline Brucefield (4) and Dunfermline Pitcorthie West (3).

Also in this category were Dalgety Bay East (3), Dalgety Bay West (3), Crossgates and Halbeath (4), Dunfermline Duloch North and Lynebank (7), Dunfermline Baldridgeburn (4), Valleyfield, Culross and Torryburn (4), Dunfermline Headwell (5), Inverkeithing East (3) and Dunfermline Duloch South (4).

Those in the 50-99 cases per 100,000 population rating were Rosyth East (3), North Queensferry and Inverkeithing West (3), Aberdour and Auchtertool (3), Saline and Gowkhall (3), Rosyth South (3) and Kelty East (3).

The neighbourhoods in the lowest category, with less than three cases, were Rosyth North, Kincardine, Hill of Beath and Kingseat, Dunfermline Pitcorthie East, Crossford, Charlestown and Limekilns, Dunfermline Garvock Hill, and Cairneyhill and Crombie.
