A NEWMILLS man’s afternoon in the pub ended up costing him £870.

Kevin Gollan dropped a bag of cocaine on the ground as he spoke to police at the Seven Kings.

He then became abusive, making racist comments, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.

Gollan, 35, of Main Street, admitted that on February 18, at the Seven Kings, Bridge Street, Dunfermline, and in a police van, he shouted, swore and made a racist remark towards a police officer.

He also admitted that he was in possession of cocaine at the bar.

Depute fiscal Lauren Pennycook said at 4pm police were called to the pub to deal with another matter and began speaking with Gollan.

As they did so, a bag containing white powder fell from his pocket onto the ground.

Gollan then became abusive to one of the officers, calling him a “Polish c***”.

The bag was seized and Gollan arrested and taken to the police station. On the way, he continued to verbally abuse the same officer.

Defence solicitor Joe Mooney said: “It’s not clever behaviour at all. It’s just not on. He had finished work early and he and his pals were just being a nuisance on a Friday afternoon in a pub.

“It’s not a good situation and calling people names like that is hard to fathom in 2022.”

Sheriff Susan Duff told Gollan: “Yes, it is hard to fathom and I hope you’re thoroughly ashamed of yourself.”

She imposed a fine of £370 and ordered Gollan to pay £500 compensation to the officer.
