A CHARITY gig to help those suffering from rare forms of cancer will take place in Dunfermline this month.

Graeme Porterfield is organising the show – which will take place at PJ Molloy's on August 28 and feature city band TwinsTown as well as Stevie Agnew and Jason Duffy – in support of Sarcoma UK, after he was diagnosed with a "huge" tumour on his pelvis three years ago.

As reported by the Press in May, the 41-year-old, who is from Dunfermline, was was told by doctors that his cancer would kill him – then four months later, they told him it wouldn't.

He will also take to the stage with his high school band, Purple Haze, in support of the charity, who he says were with him during his darkest times.

He said: "It's tough to describe the ups and downs. Those three years are like a blur.

"The hardest part was watching my family go through it but I've got a positive outlook.

"I used to worry about stuff that's not important, now I've got a completely new perspective."

Graeme lost his leg to the disease, though he hasn't let that stop him, and told the Press that he even passed his driving test recently and returned to work.

"Sarcoma UK deal with rare forms of cancer but they don't get any funding, it's all through donations. They were a big help to me," he added.

"I want to give something back and I'm massively into music, I listen to it every day.

"I go to a lot of gigs and follow a couple of local bands, everyone knows PJs so I thought I'd try and raise as much money as possible with a gig there."

The show, Stand Up and Support Sarcoma UK, is set to take place on August 28 and tickets are available at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/stand-up-and-support-sarcoma-uk-tickets-294688740957?aff=eand

Graeme has also set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds to cover the costs of putting on the gig and you can donate to the cause by searching 'Graeme Porterfield on the GoFundMe site.
