THE top dogs of Dunfermline had their chance to compete in a special 'Crufts' at a city care home last weekend.

Canmore Lodge held the event on Saturday as pups battled it out for the titles of 'waggiest tail' and 'loudest bark'.

Jane Aitken, general manager, said the celebrations, which also included entertainment, a BBQ, pizza, glasses of fizz, and a raffle, were "marvellous fun".

"I’m very grateful to such supportive families and friends, staff, and the wonderful generosity of the businesses who donated such superb prizes," she added.

The competition was judged by nurse Margaret Johnston, alongside residents Maureen Hall and Ann Reekie, whose wire hair fox terrier was an original Crufts winner.

Three dogs were crowned as best in show, with Beyonce Laird coming out on top, and Indi Hall and Teddy McIntosh taking home second and third prizes respectively.

The day was enjoyed by visiting family and friends, who helped to raise a total of £260 for the home's residents fund, as well as staff members who made the effort to attend on their days off.

Prizes for dogs, and their owners, were donated by Abkozi Natural Pets, Petanna Pet Supplies, Pets at Home, the Garvock House Hotel, Shieldhill Coffee Shop and Waterstones.
