THREE West Fife restaurants have been shortlisted for this year's 6th annual Asian Restaurant Awards.

Organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF) and sponsored by Just Eat, there are over 60 restaurants on Scotland's shortlist this year and each one was voted for by members of the public. There were over 10,000 votes made this year.

Representing West Fife in awards will be the Curry Pot Indian Takeaway on Linburn Road in Dunfermline, who is in the running for the Just Eat best Takeaway/Delivery category and two other restaurants from the city who are in contention for the Fife and Central regional award, Dhoom Indian Streatery on New Row and Royal Bengal on Pittencrieff Street.

ACF Chairman Yawar Khan said: “We congratulate all the Fife establishments in making this year’s short-list for the sixth annual Asian Restaurant Awards (Scotland), an event which showcases some of the best dining establishments from across the nation. We look forward to unveiling the winners at our awards finals event in Edinburgh next month.

“Asian restaurants, which contribute £5bn to the economy and employ more than 100,000 people across the UK, are a key feature of Scotland’s food and cultural landscape. At a time when the sector is facing significant challenges with rising food and energy prices along with staff shortages, it’s important we acknowledge excellence and celebrate the success of the sector.”

Scottish winners will not only gain an award but they will also be published in the ACF's guide of 'One Hundred Top Curry Restaurants'. Each nominated restaurant will be visited by the judges panel and winners will be announced at the finals in Edinburgh at the Sheraton Grand next month on September 19.
