CHRISTMAS cheer is still planned for West Fife – despite the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.

Fears had been raised that rocketing energy bills could put the lights out on festive cheer.

However, Fife Council has confirmed there are currently no plans to dim the fairy lights and cancel Christmas.

Head of communities and neighbourhood services Paul Vaughan said: "It's important that we can all celebrate Christmas and we know how much it means to communities to enjoy the festivities.

"Many towns and villages across Fife organise their own Christmas lights and the council will continue with plans for Christmas lights where we have in the past."

Last November, crowds flocked to the city centre to celebrate the first Christmas lights switch-on in two years.

The festive event kicked off with the Santa Dash before Father Christmas and real-life reindeers travelled up the High Street before the traditional switching-on ceremony.
