THE anniversary show of a Dunfermline dance school will be a family affair later this month with three generations set to take part.

Carole Jewal, her daughter Jennifer Trumper and grandchildren Emily Trumper and Ella Jewal will be among the performers at the Dance Academy's annual showcase.

The school's owner, Louise McLauchlan, was delighted to get her dancers – of all age groups – back on the stage after the enforced break due to the pandemic.

"We have three generations of a family taking part which is a first," she said. "I have had a mum and daughter but now I have got gran, her daughter and two of her grandchildren. They are all performing in the same show.

"Carole, the gran, thinks she has been in the school for 25 years. Her youngest grand-daughter is just four then the other grand-daughter comes in on the Saturday morning.

"The show is a celebration of all the pupils. It is what we work on in class. I don't stick to one theme or story. We try our best to choose music that will suit everyone that comes to watch. We have even had compliments from dads in the past about the music choices!"

The Dance Academy was opened in January 1992 by Louise and she has been bringing girls and boys through the school ever since.

Louise first started juggling dance tuition with working as a dancer. She then opened her school in Baldridgeburn Community Centre, with several satellite classes around the region, before moving to their current base at Limelight Studios around nine years ago.

Music for the anniversary concert will include sounds from Disney and musical theatre to pop and big band.

"I am just so excited," said Louise. "I have pulled out the stops for the costumes. I cannot get enough sequins and sparkles on the stage. I am just wanting it to be the best.

"It is a huge deal for our little ones. They haven't been able to do anything like this so it is immense for them. Their costumes are beyond cute.

"We have also got two pupils where it is their last show as they are away to the Murray Grant school to take up their courses in musical theatre which is just incredible."

Pupils from the class will take part in two performances, a matinee and an evening show, at the Lochgelly Centre on September 24.
