CARNEGIE Swimming Club is celebrating after several of its members were named in junior swimming squads.
Katie Pake, pictured, has been selected for Scottish Swimming’s National Youth Academy, while nine of her club-mates have been picked for this season’s SASA (Scottish Amateur Swimming Association) East District Scottish Swimming Junior Academy.
Katie, who missed out narrowly on a place in the 100 metres backstroke, multi-classification final at the British Summer Championships in Sheffield, joins a programme which provides a pathway for upcoming athletes to gain education, experiences and support underneath the national senior team, which consists of Scotland’s top swimmers and divers.
At a regional level, the junior academy is run by SASA districts and the Scottish Swimming performance team, and Carnegie members Ava O’Neill, Fraser Muir, Freya Kealing, Gemma Brown, James Kilpatrick, Lewis Muir, Lexie O’Brien, Nathan Wilson and Ollie Weavers have all been selected.
In addition, James will also represent the East District at next month’s National County Team Championships.
