JUST less than half of the neighbourhoods in Dunfermline and West Fife were in the lowest coronavirus rating category last week.

The latest weekly figures from Public Health Scotland show the COVID-19 hotspots across Fife between August 28 and September 3.

In this time, there were 283 cases – 18 more than the previous week – which resulted in a seven day positive rate of 75.6 cases per 100,000 population.

The neighbourhoods with the most cases were North Queensferry and Inverkeithing West and Crossgates and Halbeath. With a total of nine cases in both places, the area was included in the 200-399 cases per 100,000 population category.

Places in the 100-199 cases per 100,000 population category were Dunfermline Baldridgeburn (7 cases), Dunfermline Brucefield (6), Dunfermline Headwell (8), Aberdour and Auchtertool (6), Dunfermline Masterton (5), Dunfermline Garvock Hill (4), Rosyth East (4), Kincardine (4) and Kelty East (5).

Also with the same rating were Dalgety Bay East (3), Dalgety Bay Central (5), Dunfermline Milesmark and Wellwood (4), Inverkeithing East (3), Crossford, Charlestown and Limekilns (4), Rosyth Central (3) and Dunfermline Abbeyview North (3).

The remaining neighbourhoods were in the lowest category with under three cases. They were Valleyfield, Culross and Torryburn, Saline and Gowkhall, Rosyth South, Rosyth North, Oakley, Comrie and Blairhall, Kelty West, Hill of Beath and Kingseat, Dunfermline Touch and Woodmill, Dunfermline Pitcorthie West, Dunfermline Pitcorthie East, Dunfermline Duloch South, Dunfermline Duloch North and Lynebank, Dunfermline Central, Dunfermline Bellyeoman and Townhill, Dunfermline Abbeyview South, Dalgety Bay West and Hillend and Cairneyhill and Crombie.
