A 54-YEAR-OLD man caused damage costing more than £1,700 during a disturbance at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

The culprit was John Maxwell, who smashed a glass panel in a door he was shaking violently.

As a result, Maxwell, of Inglis Lane, Dunfermline, found himself back in the court building, this time in the dock.

He admitted that on May 6, at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, he damaged property by shaking a door violently and pulled at it repeatedly whereby the glass panel smashed and he also pulled a door keypad from its mounting.

The court was told the cost of repairs came to £1,734.

Sheriff Susan Duff noted that Maxwell claimed to have no recollection of the incident and that the cost of the damage would have to come out of the public purse.

She imposed a restriction of liberty order lasting six-and-a-half months.
