PLANS for 1,400 new homes have come a step closer with the submission of a request to revise existing planning conditions.

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland have applied to revise conditions for their previously-agreed proposals for a residential development which will include land for education, retail, employment and community facilities, with new roads and associated infrastructure and demolition of existing buildings at Wester Whitefield Farm on land at Halbeath.

The request to amend two transport-related conditions was submitted following discussions between Fife Council and the applicant.

The changes outline when details of the proposed Northern Link Road between Pleasance Road will be provided along with information on the upgrading of Pleasance Road between the Northern Link Road and Kingseat Road.

A report which was due to be considered by members of the Central and West area planning committee yesterday (Wednesday) recommended the application to tweak the conditions be approved.

It added: "These amendments do not alter the purpose of the agreed conditions but, instead, provide sufficient flexibility to take into account the evolving delivery of the development while ensuring provision of the required infrastructure at the relevant time."
