AN AWARD-WINNING Dunfermline restaurant is getting a new look – and a new name.

Work is under way at Cloud 9 on Carnegie Drive, formerly known as Basil, as the Indian eatery's new owner makes his mark.

Supin George took over the premises on June 21 and has now made a move to rebrand, with the official opening set for today (Wednesday).

A new face in the world of hospitality, Cloud 9 will be Supin's first venture, with another restaurant planned to open in October.

And it won't be all change, with head chef Hareesh K Das staying on as a partner.

"I know the chef personally and he told me it would be on sale," Supin told the Press.

"It has been busy for a few weeks, not all the time, some weekends have been really busy. It will take a bit of time.

"We are keeping all the menu and adding a few more things."

He says that, inside, customers won't notice many changes either, with the interior mostly being kept the same.

Earlier this year, the Basil team were named as one of the finalists for the Scottish Curry Awards in the Dining Experience of the Year category.

It was the second nomination for the eatery, which took home the Customer Service Award prize in 2021.

In 2019, they received the Special Recognition Award at the Scottish Curry Awards for outstanding food and service.

Supin also hopes to attract new fans through special cooking classes with chef Hareesh.
