A TASTE of countries across the world will be on offer at Dunfermline's first wine festival.

Juniper Wine Cafe will be hosting the event at the Glen Pavilion, inspired by their regularly sold-out tasting sessions.

Douglas Williamson, who owns the New Row store, told the Press: "We will have at least 50 options, maybe more.

"We have a handful of suppliers coming in to tell people about them, as well as Salt Rock Beers and Inner Bay to break it up.

"It will be informal, chatty, and probably very noisy."

Having catered for groups of around 30 in the past, Douglas says the 200 attendees expected will be a new challenge but one they are looking forward to, with 50 tickets sold already.

They have helped out previously at the city's Gin Festival, which returned in May, but have never organised their own gathering on the same scale.

"We are pretty sure it will be a quick sell-out," Douglas, who has owned Juniper Wine for the past three years, added.

"We are doing a Rioja-tasting in a couple of weeks, the Friday sold out in a day.

"We have a lot of regulars, the challenge is shuffling around dates."

One £20 ticket will grant access to each stall and unlimited (within reason) tastes of different wines.

"It's simple and it's fun," Douglas continued.

"We aren't trying to complicate it, it'll all be people I've worked with in the past, and it'll be mildly educational!

"We have been closed for a lot of the time since our opening, due to the pandemic, but our third birthday will be around the time of the festival.

"We were kept going by home deliveries, and made a lot of friends along the way."

He will be aided by Paul Rudge, who ran the shop when it was the award-winning Reuben's, and stayed on to lend a helping hand.

Tickets are £20 and can be purchased from Juniper Wine Cafe, which is open from 10am until 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and 10am until 6pm Fridays and Saturdays, and cannot be reserved.

The festival is set to take place on Friday, November 11.
