A PAIR of aspiring politics students from Inverkeithing High School have been gaining experience with a Fife MSP.

Seth Tomlinson and Lexie Spillane shadowed Labour politician Claire Baker in her office and in Parliament recently to find out about the work of her and her team.

The pupils said: "It was great to experience what work is like for an MSP and their staff, from local visits to Parliamentary questions, debates and committees.

"It was a busy and varied week from Challenge Poverty Week events and emergency legislation on rents in the Scottish Parliament to Holyrood Apple Day.

"It was really valuable in terms of what we learned about the range of work Claire does."

The experience took place during Challenge Poverty Week where Seth and Lexie were able to attend visits, the Debating Chamber, and Parliamentary committee as well as other commitments.

Ms Baker said: "I have enjoyed having Seth and Lexie in the Scottish Parliament and in my office and I hope they have gained some insight into the work of an MSP and working in politics.

"It is important for MSPs to support and encourage young people to engage with the Scottish Parliament and I hope they have enjoyed the experience."
