A DUNFERMLINE tennis champ has celebrated winning a record ELEVEN club championships.

David Holmes, 26, secured his record-breaking men's singles title at Dunfermline Tennis Club, overtaking K Kordula, who secured his 10th victory back in 1981.

The West Fife ace, who works as a systems engineer, made it 11 last month after a straight-sets win over Lewis Macintosh.

He had to be reminded of his feat after the 6-3, 6-3 victory.

"It was on my radar at some point but I was surprised when I got reminded," he said. "I won my first one at 15 then I won it for 10 years. I lost it last year and got it again this year.

"It was played over the summer then there was a finals weekend which was great.

"My parents were members at the club so I started playing when I was young. I went through the juniors and was getting coaching at Dunfermline. I moved on playing for the teams.

"I plan to keep on going although I have moved through to Edinburgh so I am not sure what I will be doing in a year's time."
