AN ANGRY mob gathered outside a property in Dunfermline to protest about someone they believed to be a paedophile living there.

Local residents shouted abuse as a man was led away by police officers from a block of flats in Touch, on Tuesday evening.

In videos posted online, anger was also directed towards Fife Council for "housing a convicted sex offender" close to a primary school.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.45pm on Tuesday, November 15, to a report of a crowd gathering outside a property in Law Road, Dunfermline.

“Officers attended and the crowd dispersed. No arrests were made.”

A report in December last year said there were 88 registered sex offenders living in West Fife, with the KY11 and KY12 areas among the Scottish postcodes with the highest number residing here.

Police Scotland told the Press previously that paedophile protests "undermines" their efforts to keep the community safe and there had been incidents of mistaken identity.
