WEST FIFE has been hit by heavy rain and floods overnight causing transport delays and road closures.

Police warned at 7am this morning (Friday) that Halbeath Road in Dunfermline had been closed, while drivers reported that they were being forced to turn back due to impassable streets across the Kingdom.

Ridley Drive in Rosyth has been blocked by officers, with residents also reporting flooding on Hilton Road, Crossroads Roundabout, on Admiralty Road, Park Road, and Grange Road.

Extreme rainfall has also been causing issues outside of Inverkeithing High School, on the B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing, and on Kingseat Road where part of a wall is thought to have fallen into the way of traffic.

This morning trains were unable to travel via Dalgety Bay due to flooding on the East Coast line and passengers were being diverted through Dunfermline, though the service was reinstated shortly before 9am.

ScotRail say that there may still be delays on journeys through Fife due to speed restrictions imposed by Network Rail, with trains expected to be held up or suspended until 3pm today.

The operator is advising customers to check their journey on the app or website before travelling.

Stagecoach East Scotland announced earlier today that all services in all areas would be delayed due to flooding.

This includes the 19/19A route which will be diverted in Rosyth via Admiralty Road instead of passing Ridley Drive and the X27 which will avoid Halbeath Road via Pittsburgh Road, Dunlin Drive, and Linburn Road in both directions.

The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for the area yesterday which is set to be in place until 6pm this evening.
