THERE have been big smiles from little footballers in Dunfermline's Norrie McCathie development squad after receiving a near £1,000 grant from Asda.
Staff at the St Leonards store were able to secure a total of £964.40 for the team to support their training and help them to buy new equipment and goals.
Community colleague Julie McKell said the players were "very excited" to be able to upgrade their facilities.
Formed in 1996 following the tragic death of Pars legend Norrie McCathie, the aim of the initiative is to coach young footballers in a fun and pressure-free environment, with a view to progressing them into professional youth clubs.
The funding was provided by the Asda Foundation, a charity which supports grassroots organisations and projects across the UK by working with in-store community champions to provide grants.
