THE countdown to the arrival of Santa is on and Pars fans can join in the festive fun with their favourites this weekend.

Tomorrow (Sunday), the man in the red suit will ride his sleigh to KDM Group East End Park, where he will join the football club's popular mascot, Sammy the Tammy, for a Christmas cracker day of fun.

The Pars Foundation, the charity arm of Athletic that was established in 2013 to run its community programme, is hosting a free festive singalong event to spread some Yuletide cheer between 4pm and 5.15pm.

Held in association with Kingdom FM, the event will take place within the Norrie McCathie Stand, where both Sammy and Santa will be joined by some Pars stars, club legend and ambassador Jim Leishman, club chaplain Rae McKenzie and a choir and local musicians for an afternoon of singalong songs, fun and games complete with audience participation.

There will also be giveaways, while the Pars club shop will be open for those looking for some Christmas gifts, as will the Stephens catering kiosk.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that traffic management points will be in place directly outside the stadium following home first-team matches.

Supporters have raised safety concerns this season over traffic not being stopped on Halbeath Road immediately after the final whistle but the implementation of traffic management points will allow supporters to disperse safely during a 15-minute spell at the end of the game.
