East of Scotland League, First Division: Rosyth 2 Luncarty 1

REC came from behind to defeat Luncarty at the Fleet Grounds and bounce back from the previous week's defeat at Kinnoull.

Although the game had been scheduled to be played in Perth, the fixture was switched to West Fife to beat the wintry weather, and it proved to be a successful one for Rosyth.

Rhys Davis gave Luncarty a first-half lead from the penalty spot but, after Jason Penman levelled, a late goal from Callum Strang won it for the Rec, who moved to within five points of their sixth-placed opponents.

"It was a good result," boss Greig Denham said.

"It was quite an evenly-balanced first half. We went in one nothing down at half-time but came out in the second half, tweaked or two wee things, and it worked for us.

"Aiden McAvoy, who we've just signed within the last week, came on and impacted the game. He certainly contributed to the win and the second-half performance.

"I think it was no more than what we deserved to be honest.

"I keep saying to the boys about belief and self-confidence and, the more results like that they get, against teams that have caused us problems earlier on in the season, it's got to give the boys an added sense of belief.

"I say to them week-in, week-out, that we've got good players. We have got good players, and the makings of a good team, and it just reinforces the message we're trying to put across."

Denham added: "Six wins in nine games has got to give them confidence. We're really looking forward to each and every game now we go into. Even the games we've been defeated in, we've maybe been outmuscled or outfought, but I don't think we've been beaten by a better football team.

"We're expecting to give teams problems coming to the Fleet Grounds now, which I'd asked from day one. We've started to make it a wee bit more uncomfortable and a harder venue to visit."
