THE big freeze caused disruption over the weekend with a number of crashes reported on West Fife roads.

Treacherous conditions led to several accidents on Friday and more across Saturday and Sunday as temperatures remained low.

The Met Office had issued a yellow warning for ice as earlier snowfall was expected to freeze.

A crash was reported to have caused queues near Halbeath Retail Park while two more, one on the M90 near Kelty and another on the A909 are understood to have required a police response.

One driver, who had been travelling between Forestmill and Saline, posted a photo of their car having left the road and wrote: "This happened at 10mph being as careful as possible!"

Weather warnings were in place between 3am and 9pm on Friday and 7am and 9pm on Sunday.
