IT WAS a fun-filled afternoon last Sunday for Canmore Lodge as the home hosted its Christmas Fayre.

Friends and families were invited to come along and enjoy the raffles, tombola and various stalls at the successful event, which raised almost £400 for their residents' fund, used to enrich their lives in the home.

Frances Rankin, Canmore Lodge activities co-ordinator, said: "The day was made extra special with help from our young Carnock Primary friends who had a stall of festive goodies, including special reindeer food for Rudolph and his pals on Christmas Eve, and some of the lovely young ladies from Dawn Nelson's 15th Dunfermline Brownies troop who were superb hostesses, making sure everyone had their mince pies, shortie and choccy biscuits.

"They also donated lots of delicious hot chocolate and marshmallow cones, which the residents helped to make, for a stall. There were more super stalls with delicious baked goods organised by our deputy manager, nurse Sharon; beautiful Christmas wreaths and wine glass charms from Hazel, who works in laundry; and some really gorgeous perfumes and cosmetics from our friend, Shirley."

The raffles and tombola were one of the best parts of the afternoon. One resident, Molly, won so much she even donated some of her prizes. The afternoon ended with carol-singing and a Christmas blessing from the pastor, Chris Demetriou, and members of Rosyth Baptist Church.

After the fayre, residents were treated again to another choir in the evening; Paul Lynch, whose mum, Rena, was a much-loved resident, arranged for the Church of the Latter Day Saints to come and sing.

Jane Aitken, general manager for Canmore Lodge thanked everyone for their involvement in the festivities.
