A WEST FIFE business provided Christmas cheer for the local community by handing out more than 2,000 items for free.

In the run-up to the big day, The Soccer Shop: Direct, which is based within Dunfermline Business Park in Primrose Lane, Rosyth, held its first-ever 'Festive Giveaway'.

Specialising in football teamwear, equipment and kit personalisation, the company offered members of the public the opportunity to help themselves to brand new clothing, ranging in size from kids to adults, and as much as they liked, free of charge.

They were left overwhelmed by the response as, over the course of two days, they were "cleared out" of more than 2,000 items that were given away to people in the local area.

Andrew Barrowman, who combines his role as sporting director with Kelty Hearts with working for The Soccer Shop: Direct, said: "It's the first time we have done it.

"It's been so popular it's actually been a bit overwhelming. It's good to do a little bit for the local community."

A sports teamwear supplier that has links to both professional and amateur clubs, The Soccer Shop: Direct supply and hold stock of a range of items from leading brands such as Joma, Umbro, Hummell, Errea, Mitre and Kappa.

Across West Fife, they work alongside football clubs such as Kelty Hearts, Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts and Rosyth, as well as the likes of the Joe Cardle Academy, and Scottish Premiership side Livingston.

They also have partnerships with Disability Sport Fife, Acrobay Gymnastics Club, Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club, Dunfermline Reign Basketball Club, and Pitreavie AAC.
