KELTY HEARTS have said they have not received any bids for Alfredo Agyeman after Dunfermline were linked with a move.

The 22-year-old is said to be interesting a few clubs, including fellow League One outfit Falkirk, and Northern Irish champions Linfield, who were knocked out of the SPFL Trust Trophy by Agyeman and his team-mates last month.

Former Motherwell forward Agyeman, who moved to New Central Park in the summer of 2021, is out of contract at the end of the season and. this week, Pars boss James McPake responded to the speculation by admitting he is a player he likes.

However, his Kelty counterpart, John Potter, told Press Sport that, while there has been interest, no formal offers have been tabled for his top goalscorer this season, and instead would like to offer him terms to stay beyond the summer.

“We’ve had phone calls and questions asked about him but no bids or nothing so, as far as we’re concerned, he’s our player,” he said.

“If someone wants to try and take him now, then they’d have to pay money for him. He’s part of our squad and that’s where we’re aiming, that he’s part of our squad. There’s been nothing official from anyone putting any bids in; he’s part of our squad at the moment.

“He’s been important. We’d like to keep him, we’d like to extend his contract, but that’s not happened yet. We’ll just need to wait and see.

“We’ve got a good relationship with him and we’ll see where it goes.”

Agyeman, who was born in Ghana, moved to Italy at the age of three, where he had training stints with the likes of Serie A giants Internazionale.

He and his family left for Scotland and, in 2016, he signed for Motherwell.

Agyeman turned out for East Kilbride and Queen’s Park before joining BSC Glasgow, from whom Potter’s predecessor, Kevin Thomson, signed him for Kelty.

He netted seven times in all competitions last season as they won the League Two title and, this season, has netted eight so far, including against the Pars on Christmas Eve.

When asked for his thoughts on his club being linked to Agyeman, McPake said: “He is a good player.

“I like him, he has done well against us, but he is Kelty’s player, and I have a really good squad here, and I’d rather focus on them.”

McPake, meanwhile, has been boosted by the confirmation that on-loan Kane Ritchie-Hosler and Chris Mochrie will remain at KDM Group East End Park until the end of the season, while talks are ongoing to ensure fellow loanees Sam Fisher, from Dundee, and Robbie Mahon, from Motherwell, will do likewise.

Ritchie-Hosler’s parent club, Rangers, have given the 20-year-old the green light to extend the move he made in September initially until January, while Dundee United have decided not to utilise the call-back option inserted into the season-long deal for Mochrie, with Fisher and Mahon having similar arrangements.

McPake commented: “We are delighted.

“Kane when he came in, he came on against Peterhead and then he was in and out the team a wee bit. He has shown exactly what he can do; certain games he starts, other games depending on our set-up and what way we are going to go, it might be more fitting for another midfielder.

“I must say that he is excellent to work with, a great kid. His attitude is spot-on and you can see why he has been at Manchester City and Rangers. I’m delighted to keep him here.

“We are delighted to keep the two of them and we are working on the other two as well.”

McPake had also been linked with a move for experienced Northern Ireland winger Niall McGinn, who he signed for previous club Dundee in January, before he joined Glentoran on Monday.

Players of that quality, however, are what the Pars boss is looking for to strengthen his squad this month, as he added: “Yes, definitely, it has to be that.

“Having been a fan as well, I get all the frustrations – you want to see the wee emoji.

“You want to see new signings when the window is open. I don’t know if reluctant is the right word but we were very cautious with our approach in the last window.

“Yes, they had to help the squad ability-wise, be able to train well and, when playing, do a job. I think that they have all proved they can.”
