WORK is continuing to tackle flooding issues on Halbeath Road after a section had to be closed again this weekend.

Traffic was diverted into the Halbeath Retail Park after the route near to Fife College was again underwater on Saturday morning.

It is the fourth time this month that a closure has been necessary and Fife Council has confirmed that efforts are ongoing to find a solution.

Roads maintenance manager Bill Liddle said: “We have met with the retail park management team to discuss the drainage issues along this section of Halbeath Road.

“All parties are working together to reduce the water level which will allow further investigation and action to get this flooding issued fixed as quickly as possible.

"Unfortunately, with the recent weather, we’ve not been able to get in to carry out these investigations and any subsequent work. The road was closed for a while again on Saturday morning but did reopen after lunchtime.”
