THUGS have spray-painted a racial slur across the fence of an Inverkeithing home.

The disgusting slur, n****r, was daubed across the fence located in the lane off Spittalfield Road and Ballast Bank on Thursday, January 12.

Upset residents reported the incident to Fife Council, who have since been to clean up the vandalism.

Safer Communities Manager Patricia Spacey said: “Graffiti is a serious crime that impacts all members of the community, and the removal of graffiti is costly to the council.

"We aim to clean graffiti as soon as possible after it is reported to us, particularly if it is offensive. This graffiti was removed on Friday when it was brought to our attention.

“We rely on the public coming forward and reporting graffiti. You can do this online at www.fife.gov.uk or phone 03451 55 00 22. Any graffiti of this nature should also be reported to police as a hate crime."

Commenting on the vile crime, Councillor David Barratt added: "It's quite worrying that that type of graffiti is happening. I think it's a case of keeping an eye on it and if there's people being targeted, then give them support and reassurance as well.

"What I don't know is, if someone was being targeted or if someone was being offensive in a non-targeted way. I've not been made aware of a specific complaint from somebody that indicates they have been targeted but it's something that we're aware of and we will keep an eye on now."
