WEST FIFERS are invited to take in the snowdrop displays at the Valleyfield Woodland Park this month.

The West Fife Woodlands Group are encouraging people to take a stroll through the woodlands, appreciate the beautiful flora and admire the remnants of the estate that was created by Sir Robert Preston as a part of the Scottish Snowdrop Festival.

On the walk, festival-goers will be able to admire two different types of snowdrops while they take in the work of Humphry Repton, a great 19th century landscaper and David Douglas, an explorer and plant collector from the same time.

While the woods are open at all times with guide leaflets available at the starting point of the walk, the Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre (RDA) car park located at KY12 8ER, there will also be guided walks will also be available at 2pm on weekends from February 4 until March 5.

Each guided tour will take approximately 90 minutes but they can be shortened if required, tea and coffee will be on offer after at the RDA centre arena where a collection of maps, plans and photographs will be on show.

The event is free, however, donations for the West Fife Woodlands and the Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre charities are welcomed.
