DUNFERMLINE Athletic Ladies suffered their second defeat from three Biffa SWFL (Scottish Women’s Football League) East matches against Livingston Development last Sunday.

Angie Comrie’s team, who had lost out to Bonnyrigg Rose in their opening fixture, defeated Linlithgow Rose in their second outing of the campaign, but came unstuck against the West Lothian side.

Livi proved too strong in their meeting at Pitreavie, claiming a convincing 5-0 win, which was a result that left the Pars head coach feeling disappointed.

“It was quite a disappointing result at the weekend,” Comrie said.

“It was always going to be a hard game. The first half, the game was mainly played in the middle of the park, but with Livingston having the majority of the play.

“I thought our shape was good, and we contained them without any real threats on goal, but, after the break, we wanted the girls to push up the park and start to play.

“By doing that, we left gaps and they were clinical in front of goal. With the league we are in, we will have to keep working hard in training, and have the right mentality to be able to deal with tough games.

“That will come.”

Meanwhile, Aberdour SDC Ladies travelled across the Forth to play Falkirk Development, with both teams seeking their first point after their opening two matches.

After 13-0 and 9-1 defeats to Central Girls and Bonnyrigg Rose respectively, Ross Wortley’s side took the lead in the first half, but the hosts, after levelling before the break, battled back to win 3-1.

This Sunday, Dunfermline host Murieston United, who have won two of their first three games, at Pitreavie at 3pm, while Aberdour host Linlithgow Rose, who have one victory on the board, at Hawkcraig Park, where kick-off is at 12.30pm
