PLANS for a 20m high telecommunications mast in Abbeyview have been given the go-ahead by Fife Council.
Cornerstone, based in Berkshire, submitted proposals in November for the pole to be erected on Allan Crescent.
The local authority has now given the project the green light, with council officers deeming there to be no significant amenity concerns.
The site is a small grass area opposite the junction with Shields Road, between the bus stop and the car park where there is already an eight-metre high CCTV pole.
The mast will have six antennas, a GPS module, two dishes and a remote radio unit while there will also be equipment cabinets placed on site.
Cornerstone explained: "As the way we use our phones and other technologies have changed over the past 30 years, where we locate masts is crucial.
"Due to the increased data transfer necessary for the latest telecommunication services, locations of base stations must be where the local demand exists."
