MORE than 20 crates of donations have been collected at Royal Mail in Dunfermline to be sent to Turkey and Syria.

Garry Haldane, a former councillor and one of the workers at the sorting office, had made a plea for donations earlier this week.

Since then he has been inundated with goods - he told the Press this afternoon (Friday) that he had been "blown away" by support - but says the volume of items mean that some donations may now be turned away.

The collection point will no longer be accepting the majority of clothing items and a new list of priorities has been created.

This includes underwear, warm socks, and thermal base layers for women, men and children in all sizes.

Also needed are nappies, baby wipes, baby food jars, tents, sleeping bags, bed chairs, camp beds, ground mats, electric heaters, tinned foods, female sanitary pads, and new pillows.

The collection point has been set up at the Royal Mail sorting office on Woodmill Street and items can be dropped off during opening hours.
