A RESOLUTION to flooding problems could see the path leading to a community-funded playpark in Crossgates raised in height.

Councillor Darren Watt, who represents the area, says that the solution "wouldn't stop the flooding but would keep people's feet dry!"

He also considered the option of installing natural drainage solutions, such as planting trees and shrubs, on either side of the walkway at Crossgates Village Park.

Cllr Watt said: "It's an historical issue around the land, but more with wetter weather and harsher winters.

"It's an issue for parents and kids coming to school and with the new playpark which attracts more visitors.

"Especially in the past few months people have been in touch. Although it has been raised now it is not likely to be addressed until the dry months."

He added that council officers have been responsive to the need to sort the problem.

Cllr Watt continued: "Because the playpark was funded by a community group it was only the playpark which would be installed initially, with anything else needed added in the future.

"We have seen parents come forward to raise thousands in a quick turn over, Fife Council has its role to play and does its part if people now can't access the park.

"There will have to be plans drawn up and budgets met but it's now on their radar."

The local authority confirmed that funding for the path had been secured to help prevent future flooding and work should start soon.
