FINDING a more clinical touch has been the story of Kelty Hearts' season so far according to their manager.

But John Potter is confident that, as long as his team continue to create opportunities to score, more goals will begin to come their way.

Missed chances came back to haunt the New Central Park outfit, as did strong claims for a penalty after Alfredo Agyeman was felled, in their last outing at home to Falkirk.

Despite Kallum Higginbotham giving Kelty a first half advantage, the Bairns prevented a third loss from three against their opponents this season when Jordan Allan equalised in the 78th minute, and Rumarn Burrell netted a last-minute winner.

Potter and his side have had a week to put that to the back of their minds as, with the fifth round of the Scottish Cup taking place, they had no league fixture to play at the weekend.

This Saturday, they welcome Queen of the South – one place and three points directly above them in seventh – for the second time this season, and are aiming to make it three League One wins from three against the Doonhamers.

Kelty, who prepared for the match by playing their under-20s in a bounce match on Saturday, are 10 points adrift of fourth-top Alloa Athletic, who occupy the final place in the promotion play-offs, and are the division's third lowest goalscorers.

Their 27 strikes after 24 games is better only than Clyde (25) and Peterhead (12), who occupy League One's bottom two places, and Potter is hopeful the 'Maroon Machine' can be more ruthless than they were against the Bairns.

"It was disappointing but we spoke about it at our next training night and got it out of the way," he said of the Falkirk defeat.

"Falkirk had two shots on target and scored two goals.

"It has probably been our issue for most of the season, where we've created chances and not put them away. We got three goals up at Montrose, and one against Falkirk, and had numerous other chances.

"We have a lot of possession in most games, but need to turn that into chances. We've done that to a degree, without being brilliant, in our last two games.

"We're working hard on it. As long as we're creating chances, and we're getting into the right areas, then I believe we will score more goals."
