A new, larger Co-op store, complete with a Post Office, is set to open in Kelty next week.

The new store will open its doors for the first time on Wednesday, February 22 and will be offering an increase in range and choice for the community.

David Suttie, Co-op store manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to launch Co-op’s newest store. The store has a great look and feel and we are really looking forward to welcoming the community into their new-look Co-op. Our aim continues to be to operate at the heart of local life, and make a positive difference in the community.

"I would like to extend a very warm welcome to new customers and, to our existing members, customers and friends of Kelty Co-op - we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and added services to create a really compelling offer to serve our community."

The store is located in a new, purpose-built 3,650 sq ft shop on Cocklaw Street, which is 1,200 sq ft larger than the old Main Street site. It is set to support 26 local jobs, including the creation of new positions and will be open from 6am to 10pm every day.

Complete with customer car parking, a free ATM, Post Office services, an in-store bakery, hot food and a Costa coffee dispenser, the new store is designed to benefit the community. For those on a busy schedule, click and collect services will also be available at shop.coop.co.uk

On site, a soft plastic recycling unit will make it easier for customers to recycle their soft plastic waste, including crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yoghurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.

Local causes will also receive a funding boost through the Co-Op Membership programme. For every £1 a customer spends, 2p is added to their personal account balance which Co-op matches and donates to local causes and community organisations.

Currently, the volunteer-led Kelty Community Cinema, The Stephen Lyon Organisation and Cowden in the Community are benefitting from this.

A number of benefits are also on offer for Co-op members. For more information on the available benefits, visit https://www.coop.co.uk/membership.
