VISITORS to the Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries will soon be able to stop off for a bite to eat and a cuppa again after a new operator was confirmed.

The venue has been without an eatery since reopening after the pandemic. However, The Granary cafe is now set for a Spring opening.

Those behind the cafe have a family-run business in the Lothians, having started out in Bathgate. They now have five venues.

Kirsty Keay, OnFife's Director of Corporate Development, confirmed: “We’re delighted that we have a new partner for the café at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries (DCLG) and we’re thrilled to be working with a well-established food and hospitality business whose values, passion and commitment to quality and innovation are in line with our own ambitions for DCLG.

“The café will be known as The Granary at DCLG and we are looking at an opening of around Easter.

“Since the café closed during the first lockdown in 2020, reopening an exciting, inviting and innovative café has always been a high priority for us, but the hospitality sector has been faced with uncertainty and operating challenges throughout the pandemic.

“The company we will be working with is a family-run business and started more than 40 years ago with butcher shops in the Lothians, before expanding into hospitality in 2013 with its first café-bar in Bathgate. Since then, it has added another four upmarket venues to its portfolio.

“We can’t wait to welcome visitors to The Granary.”

Kieran Conner, development manager for the new operators, OWI, added: “We are happy to be opening another venue and look forward to a great working relationship with OnFife at DCLG.”
