IT'S time for change in Dunfermline with road closures beginning on Sunday to enable workers to fix the clock at City Chambers.

Between 9am and 11am Abbot Street, Maygate, Kirkgate, Bridge Street and parts of Chalmers Street and High Street will be shut.

Time has been standing still in the city centre with the clock hands stuck at 10.25 for what seems like an age.

Fife Council told the Press in January that they were waiting on costs to repair the clock and hoped to have it done by the Spring.

If the work can't be completed this Sunday, it will continue and the same roads will be closed between 9am and 11am on Sunday March 19 and 26.

The alternative route for through traffic will be via Canmore Street, New Row, East Port, Carnegie Drive, Glen Bridge and Chalmers Street.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained.

A council notice said the road closures were necessary "to allow repair works to the clock face at Dunfermline City Chambers to be carried out in safety".
