A DUNFERMLINE Slimming group is planning to shed its clothes in the name of charity.

Slimming World members who meet in the City Hotel will take part in the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw where they will donate clothes which now don't fit them to Cancer Research.

Consultant Samantha Moat said the Clothes Throw will take place next month.

"This annual event is not only for a hugely fantastic cause, it represents a milestone for our members, liberating motivation and the opportunity for them to move on from the past," she said.

"In my first year with Slimming World when the event came around I remember visiting my wardrobe and thinking what if I put weight back on? I might need these clothes and I love this dress but then I realised I really don’t want to be that size again.

"I decided someone could really benefit from those clothes that had hardly been worn, while raising some essential funds for Cancer Research UK.

"My consultant and group helped me, and the feeling of filling those bags, saying goodbye to the past and knowing it was for a great reason was emotionally liberating. Now I get the opportunity to help others experience that feeling too – its awesome.”

Samantha, who lost over four stones 10 ounces on her own Slimming World journey, is also looking forward to running the Race for Life to further help the charity.

"I am doing things I never thought possible including preparing to participate in this year's Slimming World-sponsored Race for Life, in conjunction with Cancer Research UK, on May 14 at Kirkcaldy's Beveridge Park," she said.

"More details of the Race for Life can be found at a Slimming World Group or on the website raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org and we hope some of you will be there too.”
