Kelty Hearts 1-2 Montrose

A FIRST minute goal wasn't enough to lead Kelty Hearts to victory this afternoon as they faced off in League One against Montrose.

John Potter said his team had felt "gutted" after struggling to take back the match from the visitors, whose two goals within minutes of each other sealed a win.

It was Jamie Barjonas who placed the ball in the bottom corner from inside the box for an opener in less than 60 seconds but despite that it wasn't to be for Kelty who remain eighth in the table.

Barjonas came back on 17 minutes but missed a chance at the back post on the corner, while on 21 minutes Jack Milne was denied an opportunity after a good challenge in the box.

The second half wasn't without chances for Kelty to extend their lead, Michael Tidser looked to score after an Alfredo Agyeman shot went out for a corner on 50 minutes and Nathan Austin saw a shot saved just five minutes later.

Montrose first called for a penalty after Rory McAllister went down inside the box 54 minutes in but the referee wasn't interested.

Two minutes later the away side, placed sixth in the League One table, were granted a penalty when Thomas O'Ware brought down Craig Johnson in the box.

McAllister stepped up but his shot was saved by Darren Jamieson.

At 72 minutes Agyeman hit the crossbar leading to a shot by Austin but thar was saved by Ross Matthews.

Austin moved for a shot again at 79 minutes but hit the bar with the keeper off his line.

Montrose's goals came in quick succession from substitutes Michael Gardyne and Matheus Machado, who hit a powerful shot into the back of the net past an unmoving Jamieson.

Kelty couldn't find an equaliser in the remaining minutes and the match ended with Montrose taking all three points.
