BANDS and other entertainers are being sought to help bring music and colour to this year's Dunfermline Children's Gala.

Organisers currently have one band who will parade down the High Street when the popular showpiece event returns to the city in June but are hoping more will come forward.

Chairperson Gaynor Williamson explained: "The gala parade is traditionally noisy and full of music. We are now in the hunt for all forms of musical entertainment to join the gala."

Traditionally a band would process with each school taking part. However, over the years, the number of groups has dwindled and it is hoped more will return.

The Dunfermline Children's Gala was shelved last year after an unsuccessful appeal for new executive committee members.

New blood has been found following stories run in the Press and the event will now take place on June 24 – the first time it has been held in the Glen since before the pandemic in 2019.

This year's gala will have a theme of 'Cities of the World' as a nod to Dunfermline's recently-granted city status.

All but one primary school in the Dunfermline area have now got required representatives and it is still hoped volunteers for the remaining one will come forward too.
