THE discovery of a body in Oakley on Wednesday morning is being investigated by police.

Emergency services were called to a property in Erskine Wynd just after 6am and police have confirmed that the death is being treated as "suspicious."

Local residents reported a heavy police presence in the area throughout the day.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that an enquiries were at an "early" stage.

They said: “Around 6.10am on 22 March, 2023, the body of a man was discovered at a property on Erskine Wynd, Oakley.

“Officers are currently in attendance and enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing, however the death is being treated as suspicious.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."

One Erskine Wynd resident said there had been a heavy police presence in the street from early morning.

Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, she said: "They have got the street cordoned off and police are heavily present around the area.

"The street has been blocked off and residents are getting turned to go back around the one way system. Police are pretty much still guarding the street."
