THERE are plans to turn three apartments at the Linen Quarter in Dunfermline into "luxury" short term holiday lets.

Stuart Morris, of Stay Dunfermline, has applied to Fife Council for a change of use for a trio of residential properties in the Pilmuir Works, the redeveloped former factory in the city centre.

If the proposals are approved the homes would be used for a minimum of three and a maximum of 28 nights.

A planning statement explained: "There is a lack of short-term holiday let and hotel accommodation in Dunfermline, reducing its attractiveness as a short stay tourist destination.

"Building on its recently granted city status and proximity to other tourist attractions in Fife, the Lothians and Perthshire, the proposals will provide much sought after accommodation for tourists and individuals wishing to visit the area."

The three properties are at the Foundry Street / Cousin's Lane side of the development, which will see the old steam-powered, category A-listed Pilmuir Works and the wider site converted into 157 stylish homes and retail space by Byzantian Developments Ltd.

The website for Stay Dunfermline, based at Dunfermline Business Centre on Izatt Avenue, says it offers "offers luxury, self-catering serviced apartments in the city centre".
