THE former Dobbies garden centre in Dalgety Bay is set to be demolished "soon" after technical issues led to the work being delayed.

The premises were due to be razed to the ground at the end of last yea, but the work had not yet taken place.

A spokesperson for Dobbies confirmed this is still being planned.

“We are liaising with relevant parties and contractors on the demolition of the Dalgety Bay site," they added. “Technical considerations with service disconnections have delayed the process, but we aim to complete the demolition soon.”

Emergency service were called to a fire at the derelict site on the Hillend Industrial Park in October last year.

Fire crews spend around three hours at the scene and a 14 year-old boy was later charged and reported tot he Youth Justice Management authority.

Planning permission was given by Fife Council in October 2021 for a new B&M store on the site but work has not yet started on the development.

Speaking to the Press in November, a spokesperson for Dobbies outlined the demolition plans and added that their plans to sell the site remained.
