A WEST FIFE sports club are calling on former players to join them for a landmark celebration next month.

Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club's ladies section will get together at the city's Canmore Golf Club to mark their centenary – three years behind schedule.

Following the club's formation in 1909, the ladies side was established 11 years later, but plans to hold 100th birthday celebrations in 2020 were thwarted, and put on hold, due to COVID-19.

They will now take place on April 22, and organisers are keen to hear from any former players who would like to attend.

From its first home pitch at Brucefield Farm, to its current base on Woodmill High School's astroturf pitches, Dunfermline Carnegie's ladies section has enjoyed plenty of success throughout the years.

As well as winning numerous district league titles, outdoor and indoor, the ladies section were four time winners of the Scottish Confined Cup during the 1990s, as well as in east and inter-district tournaments.

In 1996, the first team joined Scottish Hockey's national league, and were promoted in four successive seasons, and the ladies section now has four teams competing in Scottish Hockey's East District leagues.

Any former player that wishes to attend the centenary celebration event should contact the club by emailing getinvolved@carnegiehockey.co.uk.
