DUNFERMLINE Rugby Club are just 80 minutes from playing a national final at BT Murrayfield - and want supporters to help roar them there.

This Saturday, the men's first XV travel to Castle Douglas to play Stewartry, of the Tennent's Men's West League, Division One, in the semi-final of the National Shield competition.

The McKane Park outfit won the tournament in 2012 and, having already wrapped up the Tennent's Men's Caledonia Region League, Division One, title, they are setting their sights on a final against East Kilbride or North Berwick at the national stadium.

To help them achieve their aim, the club have organised a supporters bus to take fans to the game, and head coach, Gavin Emerson, says that backing from the sidelines will be vital for his team.

"It showed on Saturday how important having that level of support from zero to 80 minutes was. It really gives the guys a warm feeling," he said.

"To try and turn Stewartry into as close to a home game as possible, by having as many spectators there as possible cheering the boys on, it would mean so much to myself and the players.

"They're no doubt going to have a big support – it's a semi-final. We don't want the volume of their crowd putting our boys under any sort of nerve.

"The boys have done their job on the pitch but it's always been that extra push that support's given us as well.

"Showing how important they are to us, and our success, is that we need the support to come down with us. It's not it would be nice to do – we need that.

"We need to try and turn an away game into a home game.

"Away to Ellon (in the league), we had a phenomenal support and it really made the difference that day, so hopefully we can get that away to Stewartry and then we just take everyone to Murrayfield.

"It'll be a great success for the club just to travel with two buses to Stewartry. Fingers crossed we're successful, and I think it would just be an amazing occasion coming back up that motorway after a victory."

Places on the bus, which is scheduled to leave McKane at approximately 10.30am ahead of a 3pm kick off, cost £10 and can be booked online by visiting the club's Facebook page, or by following this link.
