FIFE COUNCIL have said sorry for their unsympathetic response in a couple's search for their missing cat.

Craig Kirk and Heather McGuire were out putting posters up on Dunfermline High Street as they searched for their beloved pet Chewy when they noticed a council worker taking down their flyers.

Craig told the Press: "We've done everything we can think of to get him home, putting his scent outside, putting posts up on Facebook and we've been around people's doors. Then we started putting posters up, we must have put up 100 plus posters around our area.

"We then thought that we would go into the town and put some up and down the High Street."

After putting up their posters, the couple saw a Fife Council worker removing them. Heather told him: "Excuse me could you please not to do that."

He informed them that they were not allowed to put up their posters and that he would now have to remove them all.

Craig continued: "We're just doing whatever we can to try and find him."

In response, Archie Melville, Team Manager said: "While it's correct that we don't allow posters on lampposts and buildings, this should have been handled more sympathetically. We're sorry for any distress this has caused."

Sadly, Chewy is still missing. The tabby cat was last seen on Friday night and while some people have reported seeing him to Craig and Heather, he is yet to come home.

They are urging people to keep an eye out for the beloved feline, who is microchipped but does not wear a collar as he is an indoor cat.

Chewy has never gone outside before and his owners are extremely worried about him. If you see Chewy, please get in touch with Craig on Facebook or call him on 07580 044053.
