WEST FIFE gardeners can take advantage of two free gardening workshops at Dobbies.

The garden centre, located in the Fife Leisure Park, is holding two interactive events completely free of charge for their customers this April, focused on pollinator plants and how to turn their gardens into bee paradise this spring.

Dobbies' community and CSR communications executive, Chloë Bell, said: “Pollinators are vital in supporting the health of our natural ecosystem. Bees are currently under threat with the species facing extinction, so as a garden centre we’re constantly looking at educating the next generation so that in years to come, the world is a more pollinator-friendly place.

“There’s a lot to learn about the wonderful pollinators that call our green spaces home, and we hope our two workshops in Dunfermline help families across the country play their part in supporting and protecting these vulnerable insects.”

Designed with the whole family in mind, gardeners of any skill level can go along and learn something new. Their Grow How session will run on Saturday, April 1, from 10.30am. Those in attendance will learn the best pollinator plants, the benefits to supporting wildlife in our gardens, the best plants for bees and what perennials to plant now in preparation for summer.

The other event, the Little Seedlings Club, is held for children aged four to 10 and will certainly keep them busy during the Easter holidays.

This event will take place on Sunday, April 2, and will teach children, through interactive activities, the different species of bees and their importance, how insects pollinate plants, how to create a bee-friendly garden with a lavender planting activity and how they can help save the bees.

Dobbies experts will highlight their environmentally friendly products on offer, keeping a focus on sustainability.
