A DRIVER was clocked travelling more than 30 miles over the speed limit in a West Fife village.

The motorist was spotted by police driving at 72mph in a 40mph zone during a speed crackdown in Gowkhall.

Officers have been carrying out checks in the area after safety concerns were raised by local residents.

A post on Police Scotland South West Fife's Twitter page stated: "In response to concerns relating to speeding in Gowkhall, our colleagues from Road Policing Scotland have been carrying out speed checks.

"One driver was stopped for driving at 72mph in the 40mph zone.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

Another driver was fined and handed points on their licence last week after being clocked going 55mph in a 40mph zone in the village.
