THE tagline "Make it Happen" is hoped to inspire those walking through the doors of a new private gym in Dunfermline.

Stephen Connor took a leap of faith last summer when he left his full-time corporate marketing position to chase his dream of working in fitness.

Having launched his own gym, SCX Fitness, at Pitreavie Sports and Leisure Centre last week, the 36-year-old is now hoping to create a community for people aiming to turn their health around.

He told the Press: "A lot of people when it comes to health and fitness don't put it first and don't know how to make it happen.

"People should know there's an opportunity to train and not feel self-concious.

"A lot of people are struggling right now with things going on, that's why I think group training is so successful."

SCX Fitness launched officially on Friday with around 70 people attending a special event at the new, fully refurbished premises.

Stephen had previously travelled all over the world in his former position but is now eager to settle down following the birth of his daughter, Ayden, who even inspired part of the gym's branding.

"The owl is a nod to my daughter," he explained. "For a while she had an owl in the back garden."

"I used to travel a lot but this has been a side hustle for the last four years, when COVID hit my travel was reduced and I had a little girl.

"I had to decide to either stick in or make a move, I was helping other coaches for a while but then this opportunity came along."

Stephen has been joined by two other coaches, Jasmin Miah and Donna-May Broomfield, and plans to concentrate on loyalty towards his current clients and then growth as a business.

Though he always wants to keep SCX Fitness small and personal with a "community feel".

"The response has been great, there have even been people along who I trained three years ago," he said.

"I have two other coaches as well as there are people who they have trained and know the three of us as coaches.

"It's comforting, you never know what will happen with something like this, you can plan for the best scenario."

He added: "I wanted to have something local for Dunfermline, I know first hand that at the gyms here it is hard to get on what you want when you want it.

"SCX Fitness means you can come and train with like-minded people, there are no mirrors, there is no judgement.

"It's about bringing people together."
