A WALK down Halbeath Road has raised over £9,000 for the Pars Supporters Trust.

The show, Walking Down the Halbeath Road, was performed at the Alhambra Theatre for three nights in March with a total of 1,290 people coming along to watch the specially-produced play.

Written by author, playwright and Dunfermline fan, Mike Gibb, it told the story of a fictional family from Abbeyview which was set against the backdrop of the 1995/96 football season.

It was a campaign that saw the tragic passing of the Pars' inspirational captain, and record appearance holder, Norrie McCathie, before the team rallied themselves to win the First Division title on the final day of the campaign.

The trust's director, Drew Main, said the production was a great success.

"We got a fantastic response," he said. "There were a lot of positive comments on social media and we realised a profit of £9,100.

"There are so many people to thank that contributed to that right from Mike Gibb who gave up his time and wrote the play to the commitment of people like Calum Beaton who directed it to all the community cast – the time they invested was phenomenal.

"Also, the theatre itself, we got a lot of guidance from them as this was completely new to us. All of these things came together and made it the success it was.

"The profits have gone to the Pars Supporters Trust. We will use this to support financially various projects in and around East End Park and the community."
