MUSIC from around the world will be brought together for a Dunfermline show by The Clyde Duo.

The flute and harpist pairing will take to Viewfield Baptist Church on East Port later this month fresh from a series of festivals across the UK and Ireland as well as in New York and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Harpist Sharron Griffiths initially formed the group in 2010 and is now partnered with renowned Belfast flautist Aisling Agnew, who joined in 2019.

The two have performed at the National Flute Association’s 40th Convention at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Sarajevo Winter Festival, British Flute Convention in Manchester, Celtic Connections in Glasgow, and Belfast International Festival.

Aisling is a Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate and plays with the Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble in Belfast, specialising in contemporary music, and also with the Irish Memory Orchestra, collaborating with Irish traditional musicians.

Sharron has been playing the harp since she was just 10-years-old in her native Wales and has pursued a varied career as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician.

She regularly works with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia while also lecturing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and teaching at St Andrews University.

The duo's programme reflects a broad source of inspiration, Sonatas by Chevalier de Saint-Georges and Nino Rota and Princess Anna Amalia of Prussia sit alongside pieces by Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar, Egyptian composer Gamal Abdel-Rahim and Irish composer, conductor and keyboard player Hamilton Harty.

The concert will take place at 7.30pm on Sunday, April 16 and tickets are £14 or £2 for concessions, more information is available at dunfermlinemusic.org and entry can be purchased on the door.
