A BOLD new single from Dunfermline's The Passing Sages is expected to avert a Crisis on the Dancefloor.

Inspired by a mix of modern pop and retro music, Say What You Want will become the six-piece funk-pop fusion band's first release of the year.

The track benefits from groovy rhythms and roof-raising vocals tangled within a composite blend of layered, intricate melodies while exploring the idea of breaking down boundaries despite the disapproving views of others.

Nic Holson, guitarist, said: "I think that Say What You Want might just be one of the best songs in our set.

"Our audience always comment on how much they love it so we decided that enough was enough and that we’d revamp the structure and announce it as our new single."

The release follows the group's 2022 single, Crisis on the Dancefloor, which was well received by critics.

Vocalist Holly Clark added: "We were thrilled at how well Crisis on the Dancefloor was received and if we get the same reception for Say What You Want we’ll be delighted.

"We’ve spent the past year creating demos and we’re really pleased that we now have a selection of tracks which are ready to be released."

The Passing Sages already have one EP, Burnin Up, and three previous singles under their belt.

Daniel Keay, keyboard player, commented: "We use Say What You Want as our set opener because it always goes down well.

"The song is very much about breaking down boundaries, doing what you want and not caring about what people think.

"It’s quite a powerful song but also very fun to play.

"We can’t wait to let people hear it!"

Say What You Want will be available from April 14 on all major streaming platforms.
